How this estimate works
Kuwait Private Sector Labour Law provides different compensation rules depending on whether the additional work is ordinary overtime, work on a weekly rest day, or work on an official holiday.
Calculation method: The calculator divides the monthly wage entered by the working days entered, then divides that result by the normal daily hours entered to produce an estimated ordinary hourly rate. This conversion is shown transparently as a calculator method and is not presented as a universal formula stated verbatim in Article 66.
Working-time reminders
Article 64: The general maximum is 8 working hours per day or 48 hours per week, subject to the law and applicable exceptions. During Ramadan, the law provides 36 working hours per week.
Article 66: The general statutory limits for additional work include no more than 2 overtime hours per day, 3 days per week, 180 hours per year and 90 days per year.
These limits and rules can require legal interpretation in a particular employment situation. The calculator does not determine whether overtime was lawfully ordered or whether a particular exception applies.
