📄 How to Make a CV for Jobs in Kuwait: Complete Guide + Common Mistakes

Your CV is usually the first thing a recruiter sees before deciding whether to call you.

In Kuwait, one vacancy can attract many applicants. A good CV therefore has one simple job:

Make it easy for the recruiter to understand who you are, what you can do and why you fit the vacancy.

There is no single government-approved "Kuwait CV format".

Different employers use different recruitment systems. A small local company receiving CVs by email or WhatsApp may review applications differently from a multinational company using an online recruitment portal.

Do not try to make your CV look like an advertisement.

For most jobs, clarity is more important than decoration.

For expatriates already living in Kuwait, residency status can be useful information for recruiters because it helps them understand your employment situation.

or, where genuinely applicable:

Do not claim that your residence is transferable unless you actually know your situation.

Transfer rules can depend on your employment and residence circumstances.

If you are applying from outside Kuwait, simply state your actual location rather than inventing a Kuwait residency status.

There is no general Kuwait law requiring a photo on a CV.

However, professional photos are still commonly seen in direct Gulf recruitment, especially for some customer-facing and locally recruited positions.

These summaries tell the recruiter something useful immediately.

Do not simply list company names and job titles.

Show what you actually did.

Your bullet points should explain your responsibilities, skills and achievements.

Kuwait is multilingual, so language ability can be useful.
